I have to disagree. They are probably my biggest disappointment with BR.

I think what some of you need to realize is that BR is one of the few stores that you can get anything in a Tall size. A lot of people, like myself, need the extra arm and body lengths this affords. In terms of national chains, the main ones that carry Tall sizes in large quantities are BR, GAP, JCrew and Polo. So while it may be harder to find good looking stuff at BR these days then it used to be, a lot of us will still check the stores and website out and buy the brand when we do find good looking stuff just to get things that fit.

You can go on and on about the the brands you love and say how much better they are then anything BR carries, but if they don't make clothes that fit taller people they are not an option.

You could get a tall tee from Sean John or FUBU

The majority of sales came from its eccentric, hand illustrated catalog, which presented high-end and unique items with chatty, usually fictional backstories from exotic locations, as well as more pedestrian high-volume products deliberately spiced up with a similar treatment. As Banana Republic expanded its retail operation, it became known for the themed decoration in its stores, often featuring authentic elements, such as real Jeeps and foliage, as well as atmospheric elements, such as fog and steam."

Is the original BR the inspiration for the J. Peterman catalogue?

I don't see how people say their slim fit is slim fit. Fit's like a cardboard box.

Bingo. I'm 6'2" and can't buy a shirt anywhere except from these retailers, plus LL Bean and Lands End.

aside from the ill-fitting clothing, I do like BR's outerwear.

Huh? Im over 6´3 (180lb) and dont own a single tall size. I advice at looking at more modern/designer brands (hah, you never thought youd hear that from me). For example, Our Legacy have long enough sleeves in L for me.

Sleeves aren't usually the problem, it's the length through the torso. Can't keep them tucked in. On shirts with buttons, it seems the bottom-most one is always above my belt, or soon is after the first wash. Likewise, knit shirts only extend a couple inches below the beltline, if that. Maybe I just need to hitch up my trousers more!

Speaking of sleeves, I like BR's light outerwear jackets when substantially discounted, but the sleeves do seem pretty long. I just got their Baracuta clone and it's nice enough for 100% polyester, but the sleeves cover half my hand!

Their slim cut shirts are very inconsistent. Some fit perfectly, some are very boxy, but for those boxy ones, if I size down, I get perfect fit. Overall, the materials suck, but I can always get very good fit.

I've never got a goodslim fit, and my drop isn't even that big. BR just feels so, I dunno, castrated I guess. Same with the Crew, and Gap.

The only BR I can manage to wear these days (and I used to wear head to toe BR, if you can believe that) is the pima cotton briefs. So nice.
