does anyone know if i cut the tags off something i can still return it or not? their online return policy isn't very in-depth and doesn't seem to talk about this.

Yes, this is their return policy. It states for any reason and never expires. You could technically cut the tags off and wear it until it falls apart and return the pieces. I LOVING USA OF FREEDOM! "At Sierra Trading Post, we want you, our customers, to be completely satisfied with your purchase and the service we provide. The above plaque hangs in our headquarters as a symbol of our commitment to your satisfaction. The letter on the plaque was written by a customer who was unsatisfied with the shoes he had received. Obviously well worn, the shoes had been “Hog Ringed” to keep the soles from separating from the rest of the shoe. Although the shoes had been worn for several years, we honored the refund in respect for this customer’s dissatisfaction with the product. This customer was so shocked by the fact that we requested him to return these shoes that he did not initially believe it. He felt he had gotten adequate use from them, but our CSR insisted that they were not right from the beginning and we wanted them back. We nearly had to twist his arm, but they were finally returned, and we were happy we had righted a wrong from years before. When you do business with Sierra Trading Post, you’re getting the best guarantee out there. If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, please return it to us for a full refund or exchange. This guarantee never expires! If you feel we have made a mistake in filling your order, we will gladly refund your shipping charges as well."

I'm also against abusing generous policies like that. Now pardon me while I return 90 pairs of Tyrwhitt sea island boxers under their 90 day return policy.

are you serious about this refund policy of STP?

i dont understand how anyone can stay in business like this as a there are alot of opportunistic people out there.

this also implies not having a receipt. or any kind of tag to show how much he spent on it. basically, stp can probably be fooled to take back something they never sold. if it was several years later.

i fear for businesses like this. including nordstrom. an employee of nordstrom once told me that over 90% of merchandise eventually gets returned to nordstrom.

this slowly makes it worse for decent people out there , sincere and honest customers.

^i used to work at nordstrom up until recently. i'm pretty sure the 90% figure is wrong though, because for returns from years/months ago the store manager is involved, and the last time someone did that it took him almost an hour before he left with a partial refund for a 1 year old suit (altered + obviously worn).

That's obviously untrue. If it were true, Nordstrom wouldn't exist.

Almost anyone who does this (Brooks B's, Costco) also tracks the returns behavior of its customers and can cut people off who are abusers.

It's also called trust and good will. Treat your customers well, and most of them will reciprocate by not treating you badly.
