King Crimson - Page 2

My dad raised me as a kid playing King Crimson a ton of Jazz. I turned out pretty weird, so I think he did me right. Robert Fripp is one of my heroes.

I "listened" to a lot of King Crimson in 7th grade but probably didn't get what was going on. I should pull some out again...would Discipline be a good place to start?

In the Court of the Crimson King is the best one to start with, most iconic and arguably best KC album, then Discipline which is easy to take in and shows another side of KC, then Red which is another standout KC album that is mostly instrumental and very inspiring, like a mix of Brian Eno and Prog rock. Rest of the catalogue you can listen to in any order really.

pftt don't even get me started on King Crimson. I own every album/live album/etc.

A lot of you talk about King Crimson as if they disbanded. You are aware they still make records to this day?

Must listens include:

In the Court of the Crimson King - their original style. good stuff. In the wake of poseidon (next record) has the same formula, so if you like in the court, you'll dig it to.

Lizard - if you love kc for the more classical/jazz aspects, its a great record.

Lark's Tounge in Aspic - fucking amazing record.

Red - probably one of the overall strongest from beginning to end. A good place to start honestly.

Discipline - from the 80's stuff, it's probably the strongest record.

Thrak - A radical change in style. Much heavier. Their stuff to this day is in the vein of this record.

Sometimes when Tony Levin couldn't make the gig they'd get G. Gordon Liddy to fill in. Nobody knew the difference! Awesome vids. You must watch the first one.
