Cold Weather Running Gear Recs?

Every winter, I tell myself I'll keep up with my running regimen, every winter I hit that one cold, miserable Chicago winter day where I say I'm sick of this crap and pack it in. What's some really good cold-weather running gear that doesn't make you look like a member of the US Olympic bobsled team or character from "Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex"?

I run in weather down to around minus 10 over here and normally follow the same routine. Temps down to around 5 degrees are fine with lycra tights, lycra top, gillet and beanie hat. Replace gillet with Gortex top if wet. Temps down to around 0 add gloves to above and a thin base layer, Patagonia silk as an example. Temps down to around -5 combine both gillet and gortex, so that's 4 layers on top, beanie hat, gloves and tights Temps colder, replace silk under top with merino lamb base layer, two pairs of gloves, glasses so contacts don't freeze.

When I used to run in the winter, it was typically jockey style boxer briefs / under garments, regular cotton long sleeve, racing jersey, and sometimes thin gloves. Anything on my head and I roasted, but I am sure you could wear some type of protection on the ears if necessary. After checking out city sports, they have some pretty nice base layers that keep you warm for cheap. Not sure if there is a city sports in chicago, but if there is check it out. They cater to runners.
