It messes with me. The early darkness is a tad depressing.

We started this in Indiana just a few years ago, it was easier when we didn't.

It really sucked for me. I was in Remington, which was just 3 miles from the "line." I basically did all of my life stuff in Rensselaer, because Remington was tiny, and Rensselaer was where my gf at the time lived. Rensselaer was on the other side of the line. So 6 months a year, both cities were on the same timezone. 6 months a year, Rensselaer was an hour behind. It was so stupid. It was like that forever until Daniels did his DST thing, and now the two towns are always an hour apart. And to make matters worse, Remington is the only town in Jasper county that is on different time, and that's because our school is just over the county line into White County.

Because it saves ener...no, wait. Because it's good for farme...wait, no. Because it's good for our body clock to mess with it once a year...nuh uh.

Because we're a nation who likes to be strangely anachronistic in weird ways, especially when it comes to policies with little empirical justification in the first place. That's it!

I take is as a biannual reminder that we are not the center of the universe and our perception of what time it is is entirely arbitrary. Very humbling. Also fuck DST it is awful.

I was loosing my mind yesteday. Didn't know what the fek was going on and questioned my existance for quite some time.

If I remember correctly DST was invented by the Nazis to save money during the war.

Other countries do it to, not just the United States.
But yes, it threw me off this morning after i went to bed at 2(1) and woke up. I didn't feel that extra hour at all. of course, going to bed BEFORE the change would have probably helped.

Good point, though how many of those countries were dumb enough to pass a law in 2005 to extend the practice by a month each year?

I love DST. It's regular time that sucks. We should make DST full-time. I am embarrassed to admit I totally screwed up the change back, but thank god it worked out in our favor. I was out all last week with the swine flu, so I really didn't hear or see anything about the switch back, and it's not the kind of thing I keep on a calendar. Our daughter was being baptised at 11:00am Sunday, at a church that also has a 9:00am service. Well, we rushed out the door, a bit later than we wanted to be, but with all the stuff we had going on (food prep, baby to prepare, getting dressed, packing a car with baby stuff and food for a 50-person reception) we still got there about 20 minutes early. But I wondered why the parking lot was so packed. As I rolled to the back parking lot, very puzzled, wondering why everyone was still hanging out after the 9am service, I said "is it spring forward or whatever?" My gf sucked in her breath in horror, and in that 2 seconds before I properly digested that yes, there was the time change, and crucially, that it meant we were an hour early instead of an hour late, I think my heart went right through the floorboards. It worked out for the best, though - meant baby got a proper nap (we drove around for a bit) and a good feeding so she was perfect throughout the baptism and service.

I was disappointed that this year they didn't allow Baltimore bars to stay open the extra hour.

Also, I get up at 6:30am so rather than be depressed about the early sunset, I'm happy about the early sunrise
