It's an interesting idea.
I kinda sympathise with BS on this issue. Shipping does cost a shitload, but there are simply not many places one can buy nice cedar shoe trees.
Being from NZ, I had to buy my shoe trees from this thread:http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=126888
So basically, a guy in Australia had shipped over a big bunch of shoe trees and then sold them to aussie members. It still cost me a shitload to have them shipped to NZ, but even then it was cheaper than shipping them from the US.
Personally, I hardly ever buy anything from shops in New Zealand anymore. There's a distinct lack of high quality products - basic goodyear welted shoes are near impossible to find - and anything of high quality from abroad is ludicrously overpriced.
I have been thinking of taking the shoe trees i got from aussie to a woodworker and asking to have them replicated. If it's anything under $35US, it would be a great deal. Perhaps instead of Cedar i could try eucalyptus.
