Drinks for a party

Thread Starter
I am hosting a small Halloween party tomorrow (prob around 10 people), and being that I am not really a drinker, I have no idea what to buy for my guests to drink. I don't really want to spend much more than $40, and I think i'd prefer hard liquor over beer.

Any suggestions? Is $40 enough to buy two different bottles of something decent? I was browsing the cheap booze thread, but there are so many recommendations I don't know, and not sure why to get gin over rum over bourbon over scotch over vodka, etc...

Demographic of the party is adults in their mid 20s

Any recommendations on what to get (the basics)? I'm clueless.

Thanks

Get a bottle of non-horrible vodka, say Absolut, and a bottle of Canadian club. If you have an extra $15, get a bottle of rum or gin. Then get an assortment of mixers, including orange juice, tonic, cola, tomato juice.

Get a large bottle of rum and a large bottle of vodka. Most people don't drink gin, scotch, or burbon. As for brands, I'd go with something that everyone will recognize. Most people have shit taste and would rather drink something that "sounds" prestigious i.e. Bacardi or a no-name rum. Edit - like Pio said, don't forget mixers.

Seriously? You get a bottle of Rum (Don Q is great for the price) and a bottle of Vodka. Buy some Pomegranate juice, Sprite, tonic, Cola and limes. Girls can drink Vodka with Pomegranate + Sprite, the rest can do Vodka + Tonics and Rum + Cokes. Done. Not the highest class stuff but it works for people in their 20's...

If you don't know the drinking preferences of your guests, I think you are best off getting beer, wine, and liquor. I suggest two six-packs of Yuengling, a bottle of pinot grigio, and a bottle of a decent vodka plus mixers (OJ, cranberry juice).

ron de barrilito 2 star if you are in the us costs roughly 13 usd a bottle. ad of course coke for a mixer and pear juice for those that drink shots.

Depends on what kind of party it is. Is it 10 people and socializing party before people head to another destination? If so you can buy 2 bottles of decent liquor and some mixers (say rum and soday, vodka and cranberry juice) or just 1 bottle of liquor a mixer and 2 12 packs of beer.

10 people and getting shitfaced? 2 handles of cheap liquor and mixers. Reccomendations? for the second option go with the cheapest on the counter. I know very few people picky about how they want to get shitfaced.

You could also buy what you can and ask 1 or 2 good friends to bring a long something as well.

You could make your own Mars bar vodka - I always find that it proves popular.
