any suggestions on things to do or other places to eat while in Ft Worth area? Looks like the Scat Jazz Lounge in Sundance Square is a potentially nice spot.

yes depending on what you are into also pete's piano bar, they do any song on the piano and everyone sings along. There are lots of places to eat and go out in sundance square, also around 7th street. Try looking up Montgomery Plaza, they have some restraunts and bars too.

okay, post-trip report: stayed in Mariott in downtown Ft Worth. Old building in need of a makeover, but central location at least in Sundance Square. Downtown area is okay fot its size and seems walkable ... Bass performance hall looked very nice from outside at least. Saw some downtown condos with a realtor and also some houses in Arlington area. Looks like condos not a good investment at the moment as nobdoy is buying them .... one can get a very nice house in a nice area for the 350-450K range that is newer construction, and for less if one does not want newer construction. my main complaint would be that it seems that one would do a lot of driving in this area, whether form home to work or home to go out into Dallas, etc, on highways with not so appealing landscapes. Now, to throw a twist on this thread, my other job option is in Nashville and everyone says great things about Nashville. Thoughts on Nashville vs Dallas/Ft Worth area?

only been through nashville, but for me there are two cities here..it's centrally located to alot of other cities. Arlington is for the suburbanites. Try Arlington Heights, which is actually a historical area in fort worth, or monticello which is the upper crust of FW..if you want a newer home closer to the downtown area look at eagle mountain and lake worth.

thanks ... do you have a zip code on eagle mountain or lake worth? Looks like they are not close to downtown when I use google maps ...

they are not right by downtown but about 15 minutes, alot closer than arlington with traffic...the highways are a nightmare in rush hours. Try eagle mountain ranch, they have some nice homes there.. that's where my wife used to live.

Turtle Creek and Highland Park areas are very nice residential areas (you wouldn't find much in your price range there).

Ha, a lot of my friends live in Highland Park. I have to say that it's not very preferable if you are a young, single male or even if you are a couple with no kids. Hell, I'll go all the way, I wouldn't want to live in Highland Park ever, especially considering that I am not white.

But I'll agree with you: downtown Dallas is very underwhelming. For such a large city, you'd think it'd be better, but it's not.

this was the only FW thread I saw...

I am visiting family, and we're just off of 820 in 'Fossil Creek'... out of curiosity is the mall attached to IKEA there along 121 anything worth checking out, or should we go to Grapevine Mills first then hit up IKEA?
oh wow you are close to my house. Which mall are you talking about with an IKEA? As far as i know there is only one out in Frisco which is an hour away. Grapevine mills is cool, they have a jcrew outlet and vans outlet. A pretty cool arcade too.
