Early Dinner in NY Tomorrow - 52nd/Park

Thread Starter
Any suggestions for a late lunch / early dinner within walking or short cab ride distance from 52nd/Park tomorrow? I'm going to have about 2 hours to kill between a meeting and catching a flight.
Open to any cuisine.

Thanks

Budget? There are some fairly expensive places in the area... L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Gilt, Aquavit, and La Grenouille to name a few.

P.J. Clarke's could be fun...prob. busy though...there are numerous steakhouses, but they are pricey $$$, Sakagura on 43 or 44 bw 3rd and lex (closer to third) is a very unique Japanese (no sushi, they have sashimi) restaurant downstairs where the prices for food are reasonable, the Sake is overpriced but the list is huge.

Yeah, having an idea about the budget would be helpful.

Il Gattopardo for Italian.

If I can piggy back off this thread. I'm going to be in NY/NJ next week on business, but would like to plan a dinner out on Wednesday night with a lady friend who is also planning on being there next week. Would like to keep things under about $300 or so including wine. I'm staying at about 54th and Avenue of the Americas (The Warwick? Not really familiar with it) and would like something in that general neighborhood.

This is a second date, so my preference would be for someplace nice, with great food and service, but not overly formal. I considered La Grenouille but have never tried it so I don't know the atmosphere. The Oak Room or something is probably too stiff. Help me I'm a tourist and I can't get out.

What say you?

I would still recommend Il Gattopardo. Right down the block from you, its on 54th between 5th and 6th. Excellent food and service. Will be within your budget too. Will need to make a reservation.

a +1 for ^. It's a good date place. Good food and should fit in your budget around $250.

I'll remind people that at many places you have to call WEEKS in advance to get a reservation (esp on the weekend). Opentable.com can be used for some places, too.

Park Avenue Autumn this time of year is fantastic. Well priced, laid back, but nice. Great service. Something a little different form the boring celebrity chef grind. Its a short cab ride from you, you can walk if the weather permits.

Bumping this since no response on the restaurant sticky thread .

Need recs for a place to eat near Grand Central. Group of 8 or so for any cuisine. Price range is $50-$75/person (hence almost everything listed earlier is out of the price range).

Bar Americain on 52nd between 6th and 7th. Not too far and always good. This is a staple business lunch spot for me.
