I agree with what everyone has said. Putting DH and TR in the same category is completely misleading. Companies like TR, RR, and 7FAM are going to suffer because they are losing their female customer base. But majority of the people who buy from BiG and SE are going to continue do so, because of their passion for quality denim.

Even if they're not really over, the clock is ticking. Before very long they'll have gone the way of $200+ sneakers and similar goofy fads. Good riddance!

Dude, expensive sneakers have been around for the last 20 years. I think they're no longer a "fad."

I agree w/u on that statement. From reading that article, it only mentions the "fad" brands. It's evident that the NY times are clueless about the affiliates on styleforum and the true denim fashionistas. they provide superior quality denim brands and some, make them for alot less and even more superior than the "get on the bandwagon" retailers.

lawls apple lowered their prices substantially... and i dont think big and soho had anything to do with the general $300 jean fad, they were probably selling $300+ jeans since the day they opened i agree with the article lately ive been looking at stuff from julian red and other low end brands that are <200 because i think dh is too much for me to handle right now

Perhaps if you wear a suit often. I wear jeans every day and am lucky if I wear a suit once each year. So, the reverse of your statement is true for me.

Plus coupled with the fact that the price of jeans jumped dramatically during the 'premium' jean fad, that well, its rather obvious that no jean was ever worth such an exuberant retail price.

As ZISSOU stated, ....in reverse....ur statement is true. I too, like "Z" wear jeans mostly on a daily basis and I have "hordes" of them - therefore, because of rotation, their longevity last. I too have suits and shoes that are high-end. I just misunderstood you w/my logic. Peace.

**** happens. No offense to you intended.
