"Open" - Andre Agassi Autobiography

Looks like the new Andre Agassi autobiography is full of bombshells - including that he was a crystal meth user for some time.

Sounds pretty interesting from this write-up. I didn't like the young, brash Agassi - he seemed like a spoiled kid to me - but he really earned my respect in his more mature reincarnation. This looks like it will be an interesting read, and might shed more light on the younger version.

I dont understand why he would admit this now. He had a stellar reputation and a role model for many. Some things arent meant to be shared with the world.

he even admits to wearing a wig during his "long hair teen idol" days as he prematurely balded I remember joking with friends back then about him wearing a wig, after seeing his brother at matches who wasnt much older and bald as an eagle. we were like "no way that's his real hair", it's ironic that we were right this is probably gonna be a great read

I agree completely, but it isn't just Andre. "Spoiled brat syndrome" is rampant in the world of tennis, and there seems to be no vaccine. However, as many players mature, they turn into class acts (John McEnroe being one asshat exception).

I'm an Agassi fan, have been from day one. The revelation of drug use hardly seems like a revelation. I had opportunity to visit with him for a little bit a few years back and he impressed me as a very generous "” and surprisingly humble "” man.

JohnnyMac is also not nearly as arrogant in person as he seems on the telly. I chatted with him at Flushing Meadows and was surprised that he'd even stop to talk to me.

why are people surprised that he was on crystal meth? He was banging Barbara Streissand, I thought he was on crack.

Smart move on his part. You know this would have come out at some point via a disgruntled assistant or someone he banged. Always rooted for Ags over Samprass.

I read that Moehringer guy's memoir--totally overwrought but still engaging story of growing up in a bar in Long Island.

I wonder if Steffi knew about the meth use before they got married.
