Informal poll for iphone users

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger but I hear this "service sucks" theme quite a bit. I have my personal thoughts on this issue based on online articles (most of the problems are in areas like SF and NYC where the insane amount of iphone users puts an abnormal amount of stress on the network in that area), but I'd like to hear from folks here who have iphones.

So, for this poll, can you please tell me where you live and how would you rate the quality of your phone calls (dropped calls, etc.)? On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best).

Thanks!

I love my iPhone, got out of my verizon contract early to get the 3G couple years ago and switched to ATT but service *is* terrible. 1-5, I'd put it at a 2. Living in LA County. I dont talk on the phone much, much less than most I know. And it's bad enough where dropped calls affect the 1 or 2 times I am on the phone/day.

NYC here.

Had the phone for a month.

Service not so bad.

Rural and urban Texas - network service is excellent.

I just switched from the 1st gen iphone to the new 3gs iphone and the service has gone from terrible to great everywhere on the north shore of long island. Most services are awful here. Its such a great phone.
4.5 out of 5. (I would give it 5 out of 5 if it actually had service in the hospital I work at)

I live in Athens, GA...100,000 people, 35,000 UGA students are always texting or on the phone, and about 45 miles from Atlanta if that makes my response relevant or irrelevant. I'd give it a 4 out of 5. My only dropped calls are in "dead zones" that are confirmed by other people on AT&T and there are probably 4 of them in town. I love the phone though. It's probably the one piece of technology I haven't wanted to upgrade incessantly.

Same here. 4 out of 5. My lab at the hospital doesn't have good service.. Probably because I'm in the interior of the building.

I live in Indianapolis and have had my 3Gs iphone for about two months, and I'm a previous multiple Blackberry user. Other than football games, my service is fine. I'm annoyed by the weak battery, poor volume during calls, having to key in long distance numbers to make a call, the inability to use my iphone at football games, and the touch key board. However, I do like the web interface and the apps.

Nashville, TN, 4-5 bars pretty much everywhere except inside certain bars and Vanderbilt Hospital.

Suburban Atlanta, GA, 4-5 bars everywhere except my parents house, where no one on ATT gets service

New York - Never had any issues

Washington, DC - Never had any issues, indoors or out.

3GS, love it. Service in NYC is spotty, elsewhere it's fine. I use it more for internet than I do for phone calls though and in that regard it is aces.

My service is good. I'm in canada. I was driving to ottawa with my sister on thanksgiving and I had 3G service in the middle of nowhere.

I generally like the phone. I use it for internet more than anything. I'm not a big texter. The GPS is so useful to have in a phone. The only issue I've had is that once in a while the phone will show no service in an area that should have service. I have to reboot the phone to get service again. This has only happened twice since I got the phone.

Service is surprisingly bad in Las Vegas and San Francisco. In Sac, it's great. Other than that, the apps are the only reason to really buy this phone. It also syncs up well if you have a Mac, not really that much with PCs. Get the 3GS, the 3G is painfully slow.

3G in SoCal. Signal strength and availability is not too bad and improving, but not as good as Verizon 1.5 years ago (which is when I switched). It is worse up in SF, and the explanation I've heard blames the unusually high numbers of iPhones in cities like SF and NYC jamming up AT&T's capacity. I've never had a dropped call.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. Does anyone here use their iphone as a work phone?
