I can't remember the guy's name, but I think the class you are talking about is PMBR. That's the one with the guy who sounds like an cheesy infomercial narrator, who says you should feel free to tell 10% of the questions to "kiss my ass" and move to the next question.

yeah, that's him...he would also bark like a dog on occassion to highlight his point. Now I am beginning to break out in cold sweat just thinking of all this. Thank God I passed.

I didn't do PMBR (just Bar/Bri), and I passed. I think if you're disciplined with your studies, you probably don't need PMBR. However, if you're at all concerned or feel like you need a little more help, it can't hurt to take it (other than financially). Bottom line - do what you think you have to do to pass. A little extra money now (after a $100,000 education) won't mean anything in the long run.

Know thyself. Do you like multiple choice tests? I'm pretty good at standardized multiple choice tests, so I knew I wouldn't need it. Plenty of people do, but I think most people just take it for fear of failing. I had a close friend take the pmbr, she told me about some strategy "tricks" that she learned. I didn't think they were particularly helpful. For the most part, if you study hard, you'll pass. For the record, I didn't take pmbr, and I passed just fine.

Regarding the bar, I give the same advise as I do for 1L's. Try to physically separate yourself from your peers. It's easy to get caught up in the hype that is the bar or law school. But you know what, you've gotten this far and you've done well for yourself. You already know how to study, you know what works and what doesn't. Soon, you'll know what you need to know, and when. Just keep doing whatever it is that you've been doing. Studying for the bar doesn't have to be an extremely stressful time.

I took the PMBR course so that I'd have another "test conditions" practice multistate bar. They offered a short course that consisted of a practice exam and a postmortem of the questions, and a long course that included seminars with tips. The short form is sufficient for just about anyone's purposes.

I don't think it is necessary, it's more like a proverbial piece of rope to go with the belt and suspenders. Ask yourself if you want to wear a piece of rope, a belt, and suspenders when taking the bar, and you will know whether you want to take PMBR.
