They keep their shape better, are generally more durable ime, and are softer from the onset.

Adidas, and [English] Fred Perry. Are both great choices. Personally I prefer FP.

It's one of those things where it depends on what you want to see displayed since they all have their particular logos/color schemes.

Keeping brands out except where it's entirely necessary Shirts: 1) Nice, obviously expensive and (lustruous Sea Island or Swiss-milled Egyptian cotton, thick and/or highly sculpted MOP buttons maybe stitched in a chicken's feet pattern) white spread collar shirt with double-button barrel cuffs looks like you've worn it for the better part of a decade, because you have. 2) FP/CdG polo in an offbeat colorway 3) A long-sleeve linen shirt with a soft no-button collar Pants: 4) Helmut Lang classic cut dry jeans 5) Moleskins in some shade of medium to light brown 6) Heavy olive drab canvas cargo pants, cut loose Shoes: 7) Brown Chelsea boots 8) Adidas Superstars, maybe 35th anniversary Other: 9) Cashmere zip cardigan, maybe in a taupe-y color 10) Milsurp (German/Austrian) backpack ("11" would be a black sportcoat.)

1)Smart dark blue jeans. Minimal fading and no distressing.
2)Casual (so some minor rips, fading and dirty washes OK) lighter blue jean.
3)White long-sleeve button-down shirt. Not too dressy. Duel chest pockets or better yet none at all.
4)White or off-white suede sneakers.
5)Darker sneaker; navy, black or brown.
6)Some sort of brown slip-on leather shoe.
7)Brown jeans or casual trouser.
8)A blue shirt. Like all my shirts I prefer dual or no chest pockets, and a rounded hem.
9)White short-sleeve t-shirt.
10)Blue short-sleeve t-shirt.

Casual and semi-smart casual are the only looks that I consider essential for myself. Of course my wardrobe is much more than the above. I tried to keep it very simple with all bases covered.

It is interesting to note how people place emphasis on different things. Some people have several pairs of shoes in their lists while others might list several pairs of jeans.

Slim dark blue jeans, slight bootcut
RL polos
Bright belts
Tons of sweaters
Loafers and old sneakers
Lots of heavy wool jackets

Couldn't possibly fit tailored clothing into this list, but here's my streetwear essentials:

1. loose-fitting dry/one-wash jeans
2. slim-fitting dry/one wash jeans
3. some sort of casual trouser - probably jean-cut cords, but moleskins or cargo pants (interesting ones, that is) would be great too
4. classic, non-ostentatious sneaker, either white or some earth tone
5. brown casual boot, probably a chelsea style
6. full-grain leather belt, preferably in chestnut, with a bridle finish
7. a fitted, plain, dark t shirt
8. a fitted polo in a brighter, more primary color
9. a cool sweatshirt, not necessarily a hoodie
10. an M65 sort of jacket

3. Shiny metallic dress shoes
4. Shiny metallic boots
5. Sparkly T-shirts
6. Sparkly button shirts
7. My big white wool overcoat from UNIQlo
8. Pink sunglasses
9. Pastel socks

I don't even have a 10. That list makes me look retarded, but that's really all I wear
