ISO: A new mattress - Page 2

I´ll cast another vote for Tempur Pedic. A back saver.

If you want to go gently, begin with their pillow. I did so, and my neck pain disappeared.

I have had my memory for for just over 3 years now and have no complaints at all.

Thanks for all the input so far.

Unfortunately, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to find Treca or Vi Spring in the Midwest. The strategy will probably consist in visiting reputable stores and camping there for a while...

The last mattress we bought was chosen in too much of a hurry, upon purchasing the house; more time needs to be devoted to the choosing of a mattress this time.

They do last a very long time, longer than any other bed we sell.

How about Bob-o-Pedic?

Cheaper than TempurPedic and with variable firmness.

Here's a website with some good, seemingly unbiased info. Goes beyond just the marketing claims.... www.factsaboutmattresses.com

Hope it helps.

Is Pat Summerall known for saying the exact same thing in four different dead threads?

I've had a memory foam mattress for 7 years and I wouldn't ever go back to a traditional innerspring mattress. If you do decide to get a visco-elastic memory foam mattress like a Tempurpedic, save yourself the money and get a no-name brand that has 5lbs. density. There's absolutely no difference that you can feel between a $2000 Tempurpedic set and a generic set at about a quarter of the price. My family owns a factory that manufactures specialty sleep products, foam and air beds, so I know a bit about mattresses.

When people offer visco-elastic memory foam mattresses in different firmness, they're really offering them in different densities. Firm is usually 5lbs. and plush is usually 3lbs.. It's basically a scam because they sell the plush for the same price as a firm even though 3lbs. memory foam cost them about 40% less than 5lbs memory foam.

+1 - I've had mine for about 13. No sagging whatsoever. Just as comfortable now as when I bought it.

I actually bought 2 2001's in smaller sizes and Cal King top layers because the wood frame is so large, it couldn't make it up stairs. I think that's helped the form of the bed.

I also bought a bed from European Sleep Works for my daughter. Similar concept to dux, but much less expensive. She's had it for 7 years, and its been fantastic.

I'd not hesistate to by either brand again.
