Can anyone explain what technically constitutes a gun club check? Or shepherd check for that matter?

This one looks great to me, but IIRC it's like 8oz--who the hell decided that one?
I only see two browns but it doesn't really matter. The base of the cloth is a light yellowish tan (at least on my monitor) and the overcheck is a light blue. It is probably a different cloth but I have an Isaia with very similar colors and it definitely looks like a sunny weather coat. Which would also explain the weight.
Things have devolved, or evolved if you prefer, from that time. There were many District Checks that one might call "gun clubs" today, but they were actually checks of their own name and type (Gairloch, Brooke, etc.)
I always have trouble picturing how these will look made up. What I'm saying is, post pictures of jackets along with the swatches, if you've got 'em...
^^^ I am having a fitting in that this Friday.
I just picked up this gun-club from the tailor-man a few weeks ago.

Very attractive fabric. Any idea what is costs per meter ?
No, but it ran out in any case.
