A buddy of mine wanted a slim wallet that could hold a few cards, as well as his ID on the outside for easy use.

Jess - I like the stone for the closure, and the artwork on the front. Nice touch.

Here's a custom billfold I did for a friend a few days ago. Natural veg tan exterior w/ hand dyed black veg tan pockets on the inside.

Jess,

You are off to a great start, and your journal looks nice. I really liked the braiding on the inside, and how you tied that together to the leather - nice work. The braiding is so nice, I would totally suggest using it on the flap instead of the natural fiber cord. A short hand stitch with cabling (4-5 stitches) would give you the multiple threads you need for the braid, and integrate back into itself really nice. I'd be happy to expand should you have the interest...

It is always hard to tell from photos, but I think your artwork looks like a great start. I have heard from master toolers that they don't drink any coffee on the day that they tool leather.

Leatherwork is a fantastic hobby, and progression is actually pretty fast as one can witness from perusing these pages of great work from various leather craftsmen. I hope you keep having fun with it.
