Hi all,

Thanks for the spam reports. Probably the best way to get the message to us is to use the "report spam" button at the bottom of each post.

Also, new guidelines for the Current Events (i.e. Dumberer threads) subforum (in response to some terrific ideas posted here):

Hi All,

J. and I are both tired of this subforum. As someone in transmoderation already pointed out, the forum is not a (stupid) news agglomerator.

Therefore, effective immediately, and also applicable retroactively if I see fit, if you post a thread linking to a news story, you will need to not only provide excerpts, but a brief summary. I trust that you will all to be as biased and incendiary as all get out. Otherwise, even if you've spent your entire day arguing with some other moron, I'll delete the entire thread.

Also, if you exceed a reasonable number of new threads, and the exact number will be subject to the discretion of the moderator, we will cull them as we see fit. We will start with the threads that annoy us most.

Enjoy

Fok.

Well, I just deleted about half the threads on the first 2 pages of CE. It was remarkably cathartic. Apparently, ardent lefties (i.e. hippies) are more industrious than ardent righties (i.e. middle management golf dudes), with the exception of Conne. This could put a serious dent in the post count of some members. I dinged Crakaveli especially hard for starting dumb ass threads with nothing but a link and a facepalm smiley, and deleted all his CE threads from the past 2 weeks. He is welcome to repost all of those links, with a synopsis (I'm going to say that at least 50 words are needed, as a guideline, 80 if you wish to provide commentary. Yeah, use of the facepalm smiley is going to cost you 30 words) and an excerpt.

Why was the Mary Landrieu thread deleted? Nothing offensive there.

See above. Or, see the announcement re. CE threads in the CE subforum. Offensiveness has nothing do with it.

It would be fun to delete all of the threads in there.

The problem lies in that the forum only allows spam to be reported once every 60 seconds... So, I report one spam post, see another one 5 seconds later, and frankly don't wait the 55 seconds to report the other spam post. Is it possible for J to change the settings?

This is pretty awesome. I've often clicked a thread with a 'teaser' title like 'This is great, the world is now a better place!' see just a link, click it, wait for another site to open, see it is something moronic, feel that I have been rickrolled, vow to not return to CE. ~ H

FNB's avatar is rather disturbing...is Furry sex considered NSFW?

I've noticed a few risque avatars recently. It's close to crossing the line for me... if there are threads regarding that particular content labelled NSFW, you shouldn't be allowed to have it in your avatar.

We may need to remind people that R-rated avatars, while often enjoyable, are not allowed. Sorry. PG-13 is where we are at.

In other news, Crakaveli has been perma-banned. Two lessons to be learned:
1) If you are going to accuse the mods and admins of something, at least try to get the facts straight.
2) "F**gg*t"? And it couldn't even be construed as being ironic. C'mon man. You wanted to be banned. This was the interwebz equivalent of death by cop.
