Transparent Moderation Log & Site Topics - Part I - Page 524

OK, this isn't funny any more. The forum seems to be very slow, intermittent, laggy, and prone to timeouts and crashes these days. It seems to happen especially when trying to make a post. Either it times out without making the post, or it makes three identical posts while cylcing for endless minutes.

This happens several times a day, every day, at all times of day. If it's just me, fine, I will shut up. But my connection seems otherwise fine, no other sites are doing this.

This has started happening to me too. I thought you were having some PC issues when you first posted about it, but now I'm having similar problems.

Is there an option to change the color scheme of the forum when it displays on our monitors (ie make the bar in between each post less visible.)? And remove the giant styleforum logo (although keep the advertisers)?

It would be like some sort of stealth mode so people around us can stop making fun of us? By us, I mean me.

For stealth SF surfing in Firefox: Tools->Options ->Content: Deselect "Load Pictures Automatically" Select the 'Colors' button, then deselect "Allow pages to use their own colors' This gives you SF is black and white, with no logos and no avatars. I use it rarely, but like it when I do. I also go full-screen mode and turnoff the address bar. ~ H

Good to know - but the office forces us to use Explorer (not even the most recent version) and I use Safari when I'm not at work. Sucks because what you're describing sounds awesome. I think SF should add it just like when they had the sufu style you could pick.

Ok. For IE (this is really something of a hack on either platform, and it isn't as good in IE): Tools -> Internet Options -> Accesibility [button] Then select "Ignore colors specified on webpages" Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced [tab] Scroll down to the 'Mulitmedia' section and deselect the "show pictures" and "show image download placeholders" checkboxes. Of course, these are global changes to how the browser presents webpages to you, so it will mess up every other site also. For Safari, you are out of luck with me. ~ H

Speaking of computers, since we've got 7 different computer threads on the front page of 3 different forums, any chance we could add a Technology/Computers/Nerd/etc. to one of the forums to cut down on this?
