I got a pair in brown and love them. Wish one in black in 8.5 would pop up on their site.

I see brown in 9.5, 10.5 and 11D.

Black somehow seems a little more wearable though (and I prefer brown shoes)

I'm a boot fan. Heck, more than half my shoes are boots. And I like tweed and flannel a lot. I'm very fond of the country gentlemen's aesthetic. But I can't get my mind around these.

I did some digging to find some real-world pics, thinking that they might demonstrate what I'm missing. Instead, I found this, where to my eye the tweed looks like a sock - which I do not like.

Maybe I would like some of the other tweed boots where the tweed portion is more like a panel. I'll try and keep my mind open, but for now I'm not a believer.

The Burberry outlet in Vacaville has a few classic navy DB trenches marked down from $1700 to $500, all euro size 54. English-made, with a thick removable lining.

Allen Edmonds is having a sale on a variety of seconds. Here's the rundown, as borrowed from a post on AAAC:

$215
Vernon
Larchmont
Carlsbad
Cody
Park Ave - black

$178
Neumora
Strawfut
All spiked golf

$139
Boulder

$269
Sanford

$234
McTavish

I just ordered a pair of Neumoras through the Shoe Bank. 262-284-7158. Nate and Vincenzo are very helpful.

^He would have bought a lot of those AE seconds and used them as shoe trees.

Yeah. I considered the almost-certain opprobrium I'd suffer for posting this info, but thought the service to mankind far outweighed the potential slings and arrows I'd face.

^Nothing wrong with the PSA about AE, I just remembered having read this:

You stuff the smaller shoe into the larger. Works perfectly every time, but make sure that you get the seconds in the same color so that there is no unsightly bleeding of the wrong color from the outside of the smaller Allen-Edmonds seconds into the interior of the larger Allen-Edmonds that you are attempting to preserve.

Sometimes, the stuffing will be hard. So, generously lube the smaller pair with the Elixir of the Gods, Saphir Renovateur.

This advice is free.

I've been considering the Strawfut.

Ed, do you know of any other shoe models that have half mesh uppers? I like the look of mesh more than canvas or woven leather.

I think they'd be useful in 90 degree weather for sweaty feet.

I am picturing Bubbles selling these out of a shopping cart down on Wall St or out in Greenwich, CT.
