That sounds about right. Cut is definitely generous. I'm not sure that I would define the construction as "poor." it seems adequate - but at $75 you're basically paying for the fabric and not a product crafted by an artisan.

Strange that they would flood Walmart with these jackets while the same exact models are selling on the Harris Tweed site for $600.

Yup, same thing down to the hangers. Made in China. This video says that over 75,000 jackets were made. There's a crazy shot of the warehouse showing all of them.

I first watched this video two years ago. Still seems that they're having tremendous trouble getting these out the door, hence the shift to Wamart.

Check out 34:35 here.

Anyone know if Paul Stuart does additional markdowns after Christmas or do they just ride out the same sale pricing? TIA

I think they do in store, but from what I remember the online sale price doesn't change.

I picked up the Barva - the oatmeal/tan coat with double vents and leather buttons. The tweed is lovely.People keep mentioning Bangladesh, but the inner tag clearly states that the fabric was woven in Scotland while the coat was made in China. Which sounds about the same as the Harris tweed j. Crew was selling for $600.
I went looking for the green/ brown coat with rainbow windowpane. If anyone is interested in a swap or would be willing to pick it up and ship, please let me now.
The fabrics look great. Construction looks pretty good too. I don't think you can beat $75 for a Harris tweed. My advice would be to avoid tailoring fees, consider sizing down.
Final point - nothing can really prepare you for Walmart. So just take a deep breath and just jump right in.

Curiosity is too great. It can't be... Will try to hunt them down on out here on the West Coast. If I track down the Green/Brown/Rainbow in a 40R I'd be glad to help. If I'm normally a 40R, you'd suggest I grab a 38?

I think Barney's has been upgrading free expedited shipping on all orders in past day or two hoping people receive by Christmas. They did it on my order on 12/18 and 12/20. Nice of them!

I don't think you'll be disappointed at that price. Regarding size, I went down and was wearing a dress shirt and merino wool v-neck sweater. And it looked good to me. Sleeve length, jacket length, chest - it was a nice fit requiring no alterations and I'm normally a 42R in just about everything. I suppose if you want to wear chunky sweaters underneath, then you may want to stay true to size.

Do let me know if you see any of the ones with the rainbow windowpane in 40R.

Yeah one of my G&Gs went ground, when I called to ask if it could be upgraded I waited 45 minutes and nothing. So I sent an email. Get one later saying that I needed to contact them right after my order baldy[1].gif

I think there's a good reason 99% of those shoes are on sale.
