think bigger
it's may just be an extra dollar for that order this time... but if a thousand people ordered the same thing ...?
and just extrapolate that over the entire time BB had web shopping available
anyone who has ever made a purchase online from BB between the years 20xx to 2012
we request their order history through discovery and just demand as much as we can + penalties for violating federal and state tax codes (i'm just making this up as i go along)

anyway
i just don't want any mistake when it comes to money

Which is why people like us get coupons or a few bucks in class action settlements while the lawyers make millions in fees trying to get us these coupons.

In Washington, sales tax is supposed to be charged on shipping and handling. I remember a few years ago before they changed the law, reading some consumer column about some one complaining about being charged tax on shipping. The state tax guy said they didn't have any problem with that as long as the merchant
sent the money to the state.

Oh, and for you...

Scott James has their new Spring collection up but, more importantly, their Fall/Winter stuff is on clearance sale: http://scottjamesonline.com

A little first-hand background - I stumbled into the brand when Clad Men was closing and had some SJ items on discount but the item I wanted was sold out. I went straight to the site and had some questions about size/materials/etc. Mr. Johnson, a very helpful store manager of theirs (who happened to be watching site transactions) immediately jumped in and provided a lot of info. Even better, he told me that -items were on sale in the store but not on the site, and he'd be happy to provide the sale price to me. Cool! I bought a bunch of stuff, some worked, some didn't, but what I kept most of all were a bunch of their casual shirts.

On clearance, the shirts are listed at $39 (most everything else is similarly 65-75%'ish off). At that price they're a super bargain with a nice range of fabrics/materials with some higher end nice touches (like some with single piece collars, etc.). I'll also point out that, from my experience, all their stuff - shirts, trousers, jackets - are fairly slim as-is, plus shirt sleeves tend to be about 1" longer than advertised (so a medium clocks in at 34-35" sleeves, which I like). Also note that, while the clearance items are the Fall/Winter collection, a lot of items - like the Marty and Mack shirts - are much better suited for summer which, me being in Florida, is a win! I just went back and bought another bunch to stock up my summer shirts.

No, I'm not shilling for them - I just got good product with great online service at a great price and thought I'd pass it along.

I have a few items from Scott James...most of them from when the store was still called S. Kuhlman. The S. Kuhlman quality was better, but the Scott James stuff is a good value on sale. If you're in Boston, it might be worth popping into the shop. I once picked up a half-canvased jacket for $40.

Wait, their jackets are alpha sized now?

Any idea how their sport coats are sized? They don't have any sort of meaningful sizing chart. Having the sizing chart tell me an EU50 = US40 isn't very helpful if the jacket is labelled M or L.

Edit: Just got a reply from them saying a 40R would be a M.

I'd concur with the reply. I'm a slim 40R, almost a 40L and their Mediums worked well for me. Note that at 6'3 the standard length was just barely short for me, while the long was fine. Also, I think what was barely short for me would be perfectly fine on a 6' or under person.

That's what I've seen since I found them a couple of months ago. Note that they do have standard and long versions.

If you're asking me, then I have no idea. I don't own anything from them. They seem alright from the photos.

In my state it used to be up to the retailers whether they charged sales tax on shipping but they changed the law to require it.
On my recent BB order, they didn't charge sales tax on the $5 2nd day shipping upgrade portion.
Quote:
The excerpt you pulled from the Board of Equalization refers to shipping charges only, not for
shipping and handling. Per the BOE in California companies who charge standard amounts for shipping
and handling combined and who do not track the actual cost of shipping each individual package must
charge tax on the combined shipping and handling charge. This practice has been confirmed by
California.

I hope this clears up your inquiry.

Please contact us if you need further assistance.
