2. the toe box area was uncomfortable
3. the look is more clunky than expected
4. too plain for the price
5. cordovan is not a selling point to me
6. i think the c&j northcote is much better for a lower price

It just kind of sounds like you don't like the shape and material and the shape didn't work for you... hard to just say they aren't worth it in general for such subjective reasons. It's more like they are great boots, but not for you. confused.gif

Any thoughts on the BB cordovan belts? I am eyeing one, sale brings it down to about $145. Not cheap for a belt, but reasonable for a high quality shell cordovan belt?

I have two. I also have two from Alden. The Alden belts are nicer, but the BB belts are just fine. I'm sure I would have been totally happy with them had I not compared them directly to their Alden counterpart.

Amazon has 40% off all boots at the moment including Allen Edmonds and RL.

None for me, but others may want to consider:

AE Darltons or Malverns
RL Saunders

What about the Aldens do you consider nicer? Material, detailing, construction, how they've held up?

The materials are the same - Horween shell. The detailing on the Alden belts are nicer for sure. All shell belts are made from three pieces of shell. The way the pieces are joined on the Alden belts are far more elegant. The buckles are higher quality on the Alden belt as well.

I'm happy with my BB belts and they are well worth their discounted cost.

Nice find!

Do these still have that pony on front?

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. The description is as follows, which would imply that the pony is not on the front (left breast/pocket) where it is visible when worn.

Cut for a trim, modern fit, our long-sleeved Regent dress shirt is rendered in rich two-ply cotton poplin and a Bengal stripe for a handsome, polished look.

High medium-spread Regent collar. Applied placket with genuine mother-of-pearl buttons.
Barrel cuffs, shirttail hem with side gussets.
Split back yoke for a smooth, contoured shoulder.
Our embroidered pony accents the left gusset.
100% cotton. Machine washable. Imported.

It would be a deal-killer if it was visible.

Propercltoh has a 30% off weekend. Just got the email a few minutes ago.

Pretty good selection. Seth also said earlier that the referral links also give a little more credit if you use it.

Great deal here. The best discount you can get on the Darltons or Malverns.

Yes, though note that this is only a discount on select boots, not (As the OP stated) on all.

Crockett and Jones at Threedifferent.com starting at USD220. Limited to loafers and a monkstrap, though. I think I see a Cavendish and a Malvern. Here's the link: http://threedifferent.com/online-clothes-sales/men/0/2206/1/0/0/0/Crockett-e-Jones-man.asp

FYI You have to look at the 'summer' collection to get there.
