I think that at one time the Ambrosi's made for Rubinacci for their bespoke suits, if I am not mistaken.

One hopes they will coordinate somewhat on the design, to avoid a horrible mismatch.

Sadly Salvatore does not seem to respond to emails. I had one from him saying he was coming to London but he does not reply to a request for dates.

Ambrosi makes the pants for all of Solito's suits, so this will not be a new thing for them.

Anyone think that Mr. Ned would be able to make a suit that looks like this? I know that the craftsmanship won't be as good but so long as it looks like it, I don't really mind. You get what you paid for right?

The craftsmanship has a lot to do with bringing the "look " to fruition. They are intertwined. Cause and effect so to speak. Cut and make = "look".

To put things in perspective, these prices are in the neighborhood of Chan's.

While 2800 certainly isn't cheap for a suit and though I have no idea how it will turn out, I think it's definitely worth a try.

Ned can not make this suit.
It is a very different garment in terms of pattern and construction.
Ned makes a much more structured jacket.

sorry to differ, but unless chan have close to doubled their prices in the past 9 months, these are substantially higher than chan. i'm not sure one could (or would want to) get to $2800 for a chan suit, although i suppose you could if you chose a super rare fabric. chan's typical suit runs $1200-$1700 for english and italian 120s-150s (zegna and lp cloth seems to run more than that). at least that's where they were about 9 months ago. i'm not saying that $2800 for a suit is not worthwhile (and from the responses of others this certainly seems worth the price and potentially worth a go) and make no comments about relative quality between the two - others may have experience with both, i don't - but on a pure cost basis, they are not really comparable.

Fair enough - there is definitely a price difference between Solito and Chan though Chan is getting up there for the good fabrics (Lesser & Harrisons, etc.). But he's charging a lot less than typical NY bespoke and, I believe, less than Oxxford MTM these days. I guess it's more of an attempt to justify this experiment to myself but I'd tend to group anything that costs less than 3k for a 2-piece in the same category.
