How to wear a scarlet tie?

I just received a new red knit tie in the mail. When I ordered the tie, I thought that it was going to be a deep red, closer to bugundy. In person, however, it is pretty bright. Not fire truck red, but scarlet at least. I like the tie by itself, but don't know what to wear it with. Ideas for wearing this color?

I have a solid red grenadine. The last time I can remember wearing it I wore it with a B&W glen plaid with a red overcheck and a white shirt.

I don't like red ties, for the most part.

I wear a darker red tie with a dark petrol blue suit on occasion... it's very Capitol Hill...

PoW and glen plaid are good ideas, hadn't thought of those.

If it were darker red I wouldn't have this issue. The tie is red red. And I know all about Capitol Hill's take on menswear; I generally try to avoid.

Looks nice with that gray suit and white shirt. I'm going to keep it.

The other combination I used was a fancy red/white/blue stripe shirt (with contrast collar & cuffs) and a solid blue suit. Looked very Wall Street/Canary Wharf/Gordon Gekko, in sort of a bad way, I came to believe. I haven't done that in a while.

I just got a red silk knot tie too. I wore it the other day, and my trousers happened to have red braces attached (navy suit). Possibly a bit much. Then had a minor accident with the pasta pomodoro at lunch.

I associate red ties with US politicians.

I have a red knit tie I wear only with my blue gingham button down shirt. I like it with a navy blazer, or with a solid gray suit if I want to dress it down a touch.

How is the answer not obvious?

Note the domino mask, gloves, and fedora. It's the details that make it work.
