I have grown to think of the lack of waist suppression as a form of tax. Nearly any suit or sportscoat I buy needs the waist taken in a little ($85), and more often than not, the collar lower ($30) too. Everything else is usually good with the exception of the occational sleeve adjustment.

What really gets me is Zegna has the Roma line fo the US, which has less waist suppression, so I then have to pay to have the originally designed waist suppression put back the way it should be.

Maybe we should all hijack a shipment of Zegna suits and dump them into Boston Harbor.

I also spent some time playing around with the web site. Among the offered options are "Hand basted full canvas front" ($45) and "Authentic hand stiched lapels and pockets" ($20). I'm assuming that the different price levels have to do with different fabrics that seem to be on offer for each price point (although, I'm not sure why, in that case, they would offer different suit styles at different price points).

I'm thinking about suggesting that my wife experiment on a suit for herself. I've been amazed at the atrocious quality/fabrics/construction/fit of womens' suits in department stores. For the price, it's hard to believe that these could be much worse.

Women's suits are made to last a year. Or even just a season.

Are we looking at the same site? I see "British Canvas construction - Recommended for Classical Bespoke Tailoring (Very Traditional - US$35)" and no option for "Authentic hand stiched lapels and pockets". I am looking at mycustomtailor.com under Mens Classic > Three Piece Suits Only US$ 220.

I think you have to keep going further into the process before you get to the point where they list handstitched lapels and pockets as an option.
