i'm doing some comparison shopping and a dell computer with the 24" IPS monitor comes out to a few bucks more than the new imac with 21.5" IPS screen. i'm probably doing this wrong but if the price is anywhere close i'm going with the mac.

Seriously, wait. Black Friday's only 1 month away and in the weeks leading up to it, and possibly after it, there will be a continuous flood of sales. Hell, even Apple discounts its machines on BF.

i'm not buying tonight, but seriously, the dell with similar specs to the imac costs more when you factor in the price of an IPS monitor.

i'll wait and see how this goes. if anyone has other suggestions i'm all ears.

I played with the 21.5" new iMac today, it's really nice. The LCD-LED screen is fantastic. The magic mouse was pretty intuitive, but I agree with other reviews that it will take some getting used to. I would recommend getting the wired keyboard with number pad (no extra charge) since the wireless / wired keyboard with no number pad is futile. If you get the 27" iMac you can also use it as a screen, so you can watch blurays, connect it to a laptop, etc...

i ended up getting the 21.5 imac and i've had for about a week. i'm very happy with it and the screen looks twice as large as the 17" i had before.

Good choice...hopefully it will last longer than 2 years.

A heads up.

I work in IT for a very large company based in CT. Dell's laptops are not that great.
I currently have an old IBM Thinkpad, the Dell laptops I've had all had battery issues (Latitude 610, 620, 630).

You mean short battery life or some other issues?

eizo is the standard for "pro's" ..
