Liked them more when the keys and the case were the same color with a mat, non gloss screen.

Agreed. I think the new ones have a nice look to them, and I prefer the current style keyboard over the one I'm using (aluminum MBP from a few years back), but aesthetically I still prefer the more metallic look over the glossy 2-tone style. The current laptops look too much like their old PowerBook Ti

I was on the fence over the Air and MBP 15". But after looking at the latest MBP, the Air is not that much lighter or thinner really. The Air doesn't have the convenience of easily accessible ports and DVD, it doesn't have as much screen real estate, and has the potential of having more things go wrong with it.

It's a no brainer, get the MBP 15".

Well the only parts that are black are the keyboard and the bezel around the screen. Everything else is monotone aluminum.

I make my living with my computer, so choosing a new one carries with it a significant impact. In your situation though, given the three you are considering, I'd go with a 15" MBP. It averages out the benefits of each and I think you'd be happiest with it overall. Opt for an SSD drive though, it's simply a superior technology-- faster, less prone to loss, more durable.

A friend of mine got an Air when they first came out and had trouble getting through airport security with it because of how different from other laptops it looked in the X-ray machine. Later, he had the same problem again with his Kindle.

The problem with SSD at the moment is the exuberant prices charged for any decent-sized HD. Apple offers either 128GB or 256GB; making the 256GB the only logical choice, but it bumps up the price of the laptop by $800...! The price of the SSD is 4/5 of the price of an entire new MacBook!

Eh, I don't know. If you've got a huge library of media files, then I can see needing the 256, but if not, 128 is plenty. For me, my entire music and video collection can fit on my iPhone, so the smaller drive is ok for my purposes. And at the same processor/video power, the 15" with 128GB SSD is exactly the same price as the standard SATA drive 17" ($2499). I do agree though that Apple is overcharging for their SSD drives.

Haha... 256gb of data..."huge" library of media files... True story, I've been migrating all my media files to my new HDD for three hours. 800GB+ of movies and music. Huge is relative. I don't feel like I have a huge library of media.

Dude, I'm gonna run a Cray SV1ex with Win98SE on it to play GoldenEye at 4000x3000 resolution on my 15 inch autocad monitor.
