I sure hope not, if you can't afforid those little extras like cufflinks and pocket squares then you don't have to have them but you should not tell all to disgaurd them.

Esquire's word is gospel. I shall stop straightaway. Maybe I should go for the Trepanier look?

Meh. I probably haven't worn cufflinks in at least a year and I don't miss them but I never wear a jacket without a white linen pocket square. I'm all for simplicity and discretion but I don't really care what most of the mainstream magazines have to say. Esquire will probably be pushing something completely different in 6 months anyways.

In response to the current economic downturn, the editors are calling for a new, more serious, sober type of dressing.

As part of this they say that pocket squares should be removed and barrel cuff shirts are the way to go.

They also advocate for the return of the white shirt (which I didn't realize ever went away), striped and ancient madder ties, simple watches and gray suits.

So, will you be giving up your pocket squares and cufflinks until the next economic boom?

I'm curious what everyone thinks.

HERESY!!!

No, I just won't do it no matter what Esquire says. They add a bit of panache whilst standing in the bread line.

I am wearing cuff links and a pocket square today...just to spite Esquire!!!

I will give up neither, especially PSs. I can live with barrel cuff shirts (especially double button jobs), but, as some other has expressed, a feel absolutely wrong without a PS.
