Black-tie DJ Pocketsquare?

Hello again gents,

I was wondering what would be the best type of fold to use with a rolled-edge white linen pocketsquare in a SB peak lapel DJ?

I have read that the multi-point is really the most appropriate, but I'm not sure if I would like this look. I like the look of a puffed PS, but it is considered too casual for black-tie. Any other options?

Thanks again,

Doc Martin

How about straight shell or diagonal shell?

you might want to check out the white linen pre-folded-and-pressed squares from Ben Silver, as they are very flat and won't bulge in the pocket of your elegant peaked label dinner jacket.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I looked at the Ben Silver prefolded pocketsquares and they are the multipoint style. I am not so sure that I want the prefolded type as well.

I have already purchased pocketsquares for my groomsmen and myself from Fergusen's Irish Linen (suppliers of the English Royal Family's linen).

The diagonal shell is pretty tempting, but I don't know about the straight shell as I have never seen one.

I'm a fan of the TV(?) fold - the thin straight one. I find it very subtle and elegant for all uses.

I think it would be particularly suitable for a DJ. I cast my vote with hopkins_student, and against pre-folded and heavily ironed pocket squares.

I say just fold it a bit and stuff it in there

LOL... OK, that makes it seem so easy! Why didn't I think of that?!

HS and AC- great suggestion! I've been drawn to the TV/straight style as well. Definitely NO prefolded, heavily ironed job for me. I intend to give it to my ladies (bride, mother, mother in law, OR myself) should the need should arise!

I bought pocketsquares for all of the men/boys in my wedding party, as well as my father. Maybe we can all wear a different type of fold to set us off?

That's what I do. Stuff it in, then pull out a little half-moon.

I meant just fold it once in half to make it smaller and stuff it in

I like the fold and stuff in general, but especially for black tie because it provides a bit of sumptousness amidst all the sleek starkess of the jacket and shirt.

Sorry, I was confused at first- but it seems that Mr. Appleby and zjpj83 would agree with you. Now that you all have explained it, it does make a lot of sense.

Thanks!

TV fold, probably at a slight angle.
