Leather quality comparison of C&J and EG?

Is the leather of C&J handgrades very noticeably different from Edward Green RTW leather?

I happen to own a pair of handgrades in tan, and feel that it's more prone to scuffs compared to pairs of Edward Greens purchased at the same time (six months ago). Out of habit, I'm prone to banging the heels of my shoes against the legs of my chair at the office, it seems.

Or is it just the lighter color?

Not that C&J handgrades are in any way a lousy product. I'm just wondering if the gap between their price point and Edward Green is wider than the small, connosseiur-ish gap forum logic has concluded.

Yes, I think so. The leather on the EGs look, feel, and smell nicer.

Given both shoemakers are of quality, you pay for what you get.
