Please help me lose 20 lbs - Page 18

If you can't find the time to stick to a regimen, find a way to eat as much as you feel you expend. In other words, don't over eat if you are mostly sitting down all day, because your body won't burn those extra calories. Step two is eating low-cal, healthy foods. Try a raw food diet, or just eat stuff that is fool-proof healthy and just make some half-assed lazy "meals" with the essentials. Ie - some kind of salad with tuna and veggies. It won't taste great if you just slap it all together, but it won't be pumping you full of crap.

I sat around for an entire summer working on software tutorials, and didn't think to eat too much (I ate only about twice a day). I was never hungry, and I ended up losing about 15 pounds over the course of 2 months without realizing it.

Get something like Nikeplus, which will assign you training programs for your specific body condition. This is sort of an independent way of keeping you striving toward a goal, if motivation is something you lack.

I'd recommend using sites like fitday to monitor daily caloric intake and using a food scale to actually measure out real portion/serving sizes/whatnot.

I do recognize that one can lose a significant amount of weight by simply adding in or switching to less calorie-dense foodstuffs to ones diet, but a lot of ppl don't have a natural knack of "eyeballing" a certain amount of food.
By this I mean that if you don't weigh your portions, 10 ounces of beef might well be really 12-13 and these incremental differences compounded during the day could easily wipe out most of ones daily deficit (esp. if you're in, say, somewhere in the -500 cal/day range), thus stalling ones progress.

You don't really have to do it for that long, once you get used to different portions of different foodstuffs eyeballing becomes a lot easier and you can keep your daily calories in check without having to resort to the scale all the time (except for contest prep ppl, but thats a different story for a different thread).

Sorry for the rather long-winded post.

Sho, I don't recommend that you do this or make it a habit. Eat less, sure, but don't go without completely. You'll wind up depleted and overtrain/get injured. Then you'll be dispirited and obscenely hungry.

thanks Thomas. i will eat an avocado today then. seriously, i think the first two days will be fine to do some liberal things. i will start conserve energy upon entering the 3rd day.

a few things:

i will keep hydrated with water or liquid throughout the day.

i will take in some nutrients in the form of some fruit (remember <300 cals max) or multivitamin or something.

i am trying to condition myself to think "hunger" as a feeling of euphoria, instead of pain or discomfort. this right here is one of the main keys to success i believe.

I lost 60lbs in a year by not eating processed foods. I still cheat on Fridays (I love Pizza too much). Eating consists of: Only fruit every morning until noon (this is a big part of it for some reason) Veggie sandwich or soup or lentils or salad or mixed veggies with marinara sauce (that's a good one) for lunch Salmon with carrots or baked potato for dinner And I walk for an hour a day

honestly dude, you're breaking yourself down by working out and eating nothing. If you're serious about a type of fast, check out the V-Diet

So last nite I had a 1 small bunch of concord grapes (2 cups, 125 cals) and a few pieces of seaweed laver.

Coffee and water was only consumed during day.

Went to do half hour of stairmaster. Some lite deadlifts. Made sure I was hydrated prior to.

Today is second day.

Your determination is admirable. Mind over matter, you can do it.

Quick q: would you consider eating 60-70 grams of quality protein daily, as that would at least be somewhat anti-catabolic and fit your 300 cal/day target?

Just a suggestion man, not trying to sabotage your efforts.

TrH thanks for the advice, however
purpose in doing this fast is not to a response to "please help me lose 20lbs" if more people read up on this thread, they would know i am now more than halfway there.

the purpose is not to lose weight but more for a sort of spiritual/mental/stamina gauging journey.

to eat any solid foods like meat or breads would be making kind of counter the purpose of this fast.
i'll try only to eat small fruits/low cal vegetable once a day with some liquid (non caloric ) throughout the day.

i understand ingesting some protein is needed to stabilize my body and/or to maintain muscle, however, if i lose any muscle, that is just the price i will have to pay in this particular fast. those here who know my intents more so like bdc or thomas and such do understand.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, maybe I should've read the thread more carefully.
