as far as actual weight goes, it doesnt matter so much what you eat but how much. that ratio crap doesnt mean anything, it's about calories, the only thing about carbs is you dont necessarily feel full. for example i like sausage egg and cheese mcgriddles, and they have a good amount of fat, but surprisingly keeps me full for a long time because i feel disgusting after eating it, and the fats prevent me from wanting to snack. i wasn't that overweight, but over the past year and a half just light exercise and semi-portion control i've lost 20 lbs and now with my regimen, that has stayed fairly stable now. i eat junk food when i want i just dont gorge myself on it. my gym routine isnt even that intense, perhaps 3 days a week for 30-40 min. from what i've seen the biggest mistake is people are too intense with their routine, and so when they relapse they go hog-wild.

How to lose 20lbs?

I'll tell you how not to lose 20lbs.

Don't follow fad diets, the majority fail and end up gaining the weight back.

The most important thing you can do is to change your eating habits from processed and refined foods (I don't even know why we call them foods) to whole and natural foods. Keep eating at maintenance and you'll see the improvements soon enough. Want to speed up the process? start doing pushups and lunges at home, build muscle and you won't have to worry about cardio.

Go to Weight Watchers - it's a lifestlye, not a diet. If you haven't made a change to your lifestyle and am only working to lose the weight, what happens after you've achieved it? WW will help you to maintain it.

gonna go for a 2-day fast starting today. it's 10:04AM so far going good (only had a cup of coffee, minimal sugar/cream , floated to bottom anyways didnt drink whole thing)

who's with me?

eat protein. 1g/lb. you need protein to maintain muscle. it's more complicated, but if you just simply fast and not eat anything, you're going to lose weight, but it will be fat AND muscle and possibly water weight You might also want to try IF instead of simply fasting. I like the leansgain version. You eat at 12 at stop eating at 8. Make sure you count calories tho.

Don't understand why you'd want to eliminate all the good sat fats that come with grass fed meat. Also, eating sugar all day and no protein...

i see what you mean , but my purpose of fasting today (and hopefully throughout tomorrow) is more for cleansing and of mind. kind of a spiritual thing but without a spiritual motive or purpose. meditative. see if i can have mind over body today and tomorrow. if that means losing a little muscle, so be it. right now im actually a little top-heavy anyways. fitting into skinny jeans doesnt look quite correct yet with top-heaviness. !

reason why i declare it here publicly, so i can keep myself accountable and save face if i think about quitting or failing it.
will document it each day for 8 days. (will keep my caloric intake total to 300 max calories per day in form hopefully of only fluids)

just to see if i can do it. good luck to me

Just out of interest, are you currently lifting/doing any weight training?

Well, obviously not during the fasts, but on other times when you're on your normal cutting diet.

well, i have been doing lite weights all the time. but during this time, i think it would be safer not to touch any weights. but do some minor calisthenics like situps and some pushups and so forth.

i will continue with my cardio (1 hour stairmaster) every day if i can. i might have to do a slower speed and just monitor my energy and strength so as to not drop dead. i guess.



this morning @8:30AM 1 cup of coffee, two packets of the browner sugar, and a bit of half/half. been drinking it slowly over the hour, most of the sugar and cream im sure just sank to the bottom. didnt finish the coffee.
