I received my basted Chan today, in time for my second fitting in mid-November. The shoulder was very soft, as requested, but I wonder if they are perhaps a bit narrow. The lapel notch is also very high, as are the arm holes. The sleeves could also be a tiny bit longer, and the collar stands off my neck some, although its probably more from a wrinkle than poor fit. Button point and quarters look about right. Im really happy with the look and feel of the fabric, a navy birdseye by Holland and Sherry. This is my first effort at anything beyond OTR, so I cant really provide much of a comparison between Chan and the competition, but here are the photos for everyone's benefit.

Looks very nice. The shoulders look just right. Did you get measured in DC at the Hilton?

One of the sleeves look alittle short but it can be the way you are standing. Nice material

It looks pretty good. Buttoning it up would make a better picture.

I noticed that too, I think its just my stance. Im going to let it hang for a couple of days to shake out some wrinkles then I'll try it on again.

I agree, but at this stage there is no button or hole.

I agree, its a little unorthodox, but it makes sense. When you have your initial fitting, you schedule your second appointment. Prior to that appointment, they mail you the basted suit, which you then bring to your second appointment to try on for Patrick. Otherwise, Patrick would have to hand-carry everyone's suits during his entire US tour. After your second fitting, assuming the fit is good, the suit is mailed back to Chan, where it is finished, then mailed back to you again.

While it might be better from a logistic standpoint, I'm wondering if it's really a good idea to have clients really handle their unfinished suits. Are they the only ones who do this? I just assumed they mailed the suits to the various hotels where they stay while on tour and have the hotels send the suits back to them. Do you have to return the suit back to Chan yourself after the 2nd appointment?

I believe they will keep it after the second fitting and return it themselves.

A Chan runs from around $1200 and up, depending on the fabric you choose. This H&S ended up costing me around $1600. To be honest, at that price point, I could get a nice Isaia on sale, so Im looking forward to seeing how the quality and fit compares.

It looks really great so far. I like the shoulders a lot, and the chest/waist shape is really nicely done.
