Bistro Tables

I know this probably doesn't deserve its own thread, but there didn't seem to be a place for general questions and after 10+ hours of searching, I've become somewhat frustrated.

I'm looking for a mid-century bistro / pub table for my NYC apartment. It would go near an exposed brick wall, by a window, in a room with hardwood floors. I have a one bedroom apartment without a seperate kitchen so space is somewhat limited, which is why I'd prefer to get a bistro table instead of a regular kitchen table. I plan on using only two chairs.

While I love home decorating, I just recently got into it and am still very much on the beginning end of the learning curve. Keep in mind the place will likely have a mid century feel, but not in A Clockwork Orange kind of way.

I can post pictures of my place if it helps.

My latest idea is to get one similar in appearence to the first picture but with bistro proportions (38-42" high, 28-34" diameter). Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the proportions aren't quite right. The space is really quite small and I would like something just like that, except higher and with a smaller diameter.

The site seems pretty cool though.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Your 2nd picture is a small side table. With a 40" top, and a normal 28" height, you will never achieve the same "proportions". Unless you mean that you want a high table that would be used with counter/bar stools? Which is - I guess - what you mean by "bistro table"?

Exactly. Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my OP.

I'll edit the OP to say I'm looking for a high table that is roughly 28-34" in diameter and around 38-42" high.

Gotcha. Not sure where to find one of these...

What's the point of a bistro table? Why not a regular height one?

you might have a hard time finding a table that high at that diameter. 28" is going to be the standard height for most tables

This one does fit your reqirements, but you'd have a much wider selection if you saught out a standard 28"H. I had a tough time finding a 30-33" table under $1,000. I went with one from Kartell and I am very happy with it.

I just like the look and think it works well for a small space.

It's been a hell of a time. I like the one you linked, but its a little out of my price range and I'm not in love with the base.

Any other bistro table suggestions or websites to browse would be much appreciated. My tastes have evolved as I've learned more and while I'm partial to the design displayed in the OP, I'm also open to new ideas.

Going in a slightly different direction, what do you guys think of wood?

This is dated 1800-1899, from Sweden.
