Co-op meeting tonight.

So, I have a coop meeting tonight. I am, unfortunately, president of the board, mainly because nobody else talks to each other without legal counsel. Please help me with my strategery. Thanks.

Full co-op or just a board meeting?

Either way, these are pretty dreadful.

Get everything done through proxies, is my best advice. Also, make all the decisions at the Executive Board meetings and just use the full board meetings to tell them how they need to vote, for what you've alread decided.

Don't provide any food or drink.

Crank up the temp so people are drowsy and uncomfortable.

These all sound like solid suggestions.

It was a steep learning curve.

I salute you. I am going on my third year serving on my co-op's board, which meets once a month. It is a thankless task. I can't really complain because the President and Treasurer have been serving much longer with much greater responsibilities.

Have a set agenda and limit meetings to 45 minutes if possible. Cut off all small talk.

I would provide a LOT of food - preferably laced with mild sedatives, crank-up the heat, provide a little alcohol and try to bore everyone into submission in the first hour. Then, once lulled into a false sense of security and stupor - spring the important stuff on them.

Can't you get Christopher Moore to help you out?

It just dawned on me. You need to hire a lawyer. Problem solved.

Board, but it doesn't make any difference. All of the troublemakers will be there.

The notion of having to participate in community activities just so you can live in a particular building repulses me.
