Bettye LaVette

Thought I already had a Bettye threak, but guess not. Here is the next installment in Conne's Recommended Artists... She is really something else. Quite popular in the 60s and 70s soul circles, off the radar for a few years, back in the 90s/2000s as a soul-cum-blues powerhouse...what a voice. Her cover of The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" (with The Who in the audience) is one of the best covers ever, period. You will get goosebumps. Honestly it's better than the original. At the end, they cut to Daltrey, in tears. Just beautiful. This is one of the most heartfelt cuts of "I've Been Loving You Too Long"...Otis would be proud.
