The best way to put on a high armhole suit jacket

I recently had a bespoke suit made with high armholes and a silk sateen lining. I wonder how one gets into such a jacket? The way I'm currently doing it might cause the lining near the armpits to tear in a short while. There's a lot of stretching and abrasion.

Let's share some best practices here.

Sometimes when I read this forum I think I am on crazy pills or something.

Suggest singing "That guy in a little coat" while doing it. Not that it'll help, but if someone is watching it'll make it more comical.

Hand the jacket to the nearest beautiful woman and have her open the jacket up, allowing you to slip both arms in, and voila!

Doesn't your manservant hold it up properly for you? I'm shocked.

Pretty sure it's "fat guy in a little coat," but +1 nonetheless.

Years ago when I was in high school, a larger friend of mine would do that to my jacket though it never ripped.

I have half a mind to hire my tailor as butler. Much more practice than any random beautiful woman, and he even gives my shirt sleeves a tug to show the obligatory half inch.

Well, that does make more sense...

I remember seeing Martin Sheen interviewed a wile back and he explained that, owing to a shoulder injury, he had developed a hybrid over-the-head technique. I think he may ahve done it on the West Wing, but I never saw it. Have a feeling this may work. It's kind of a 'get one arm in first, then flick' kind of t'ing. EDIT: I don't mean putting it on like a sweater – I'm trying to track down a clip...
