Paranormal Activity: Don't see it

The movie somehow got 85% on rotten tomatoes which boggles my mind. It's one of those movies where there's about 8 seconds of action in a 90 minute movie. I feel like this is a PSA.

Were you expecting an action movie seeing it?

It was pretty bad. 90 minutes of build-up to two cheap Blair Witch scares.

The possessed girl was hot, though.

Any film that is likened to "Blair Witch" prompts an automatic "no-go" response in me. That had to be the most overrated, over-hyped movie in the history of cinema!

+1

Any movie compared to "Blair Witch" whatever is a fail by default...What a bloody disaster of hype it was!

Can you provide a more concise review as I'm actually thinking of watching it.

It's shot like cloverfield (some guy who happens to have a camcorder on 24/7.) It basically a mildly obnoxious guy and a girlfriend with giant boobs who get haunted. It's about 90 minutes of build-up to 30 seconds of "scary" scenes. You'll get startled by the film a few times. There's no real back story or plot that explains the haunting, and the ending is very abrupt and half-assed.

The trailers make it look scary by showing audience reactions... but what they don't say is that those reactions are from the only scary/startling scenes in the whole movie.

If it was a 15 minute short, it would have been tolerable. But building suspense for 90 minutes for such a tiny payoff is just ridiculous.

I saw it tonight and thought it was alright. It took about 20 minutes before anything started to "happen." The ending was pretty scary and I have never been in a theatre where so many people were screaming, it was really something.

It boils down to this: If you liked the Blair Witch Project you will like this movie. You never see what is haunting the people in both movies so whether or not you find the movie scary is up to you and your imagination. I remember seeing Blair Witch when I was like 14 and was scared shitless because all we did as kids was play in the woods.

If a movie preview shows more shots of the audience reacting to the movie than of the actual movie itself...skip it.

I was afraid of this. I was incredibly disappointed by Blair Witch, and I was thinking this might turn out to be nothing but marketing. I'm not interested in paying eight bucks for a movie that is 99% set-up.

Blair Witch was a good movie for what it was but it was def over hyped. I saw it early and thought it was good and original. This movie was a boring movie with some good ideas. I just think it was too long for the story they had. If it was about 45 minutes it would have been aright.

Chris Rock had the best line about Blair Witch:

"Blair With Project only cost $50,000 to make.

Someone ran off with like $40,000."

Or something like that.

Yeah, it was probably made in some dude's basement in Montreal.

And someone else said she had giant boobs. Look on the bright side, man. At least your movie-going experience wasn't complete fail.
