Ah I remember reading that they stole the melody from some obscure (and terribad) Brazilian band.

I'm honestly not a fan as I tried to stray away from shredder crowd after a while (i play guitar) but Satriani is technically a rather skilled guitarist. Whether or not his music is worth listening to is another story, but he could probably shame most people on guitar.

That's what I mean. Did Coldplay steal a good line of melody from a musically innovative artist? No, they stole a crappy, cheesy line from a tone-deaf shred technician and turned it into an even more worthless top 10 hit.

I wouldn't say Joe Satriani is necessarily tone-deaf. Shred music just eventually gets really stale as it tends to become an exercise in playing fast moreso than creating engaging music.

Point is Coldplay sucks. Joe Satriani, for the most part, sucks.

and can everyone stop talking about Led Zeppelin? People still worshiping bands that have long gone past their prime and generally lost relevance is the reason new bands can't get the attention they deserve.

Also, i don't think memphis minnie got credited for when the levee breaks at the time of the zeppelin release and that was a lot worse that stealing a riff, baseline or few pieces. It was basically a cover
