10K? Hell no, unless you are buying Lattanzi RTW or Lobb's exotics. I will post pics tomorrow. I have 3 pair of MTO AE, in Shortwing, Split toe and Plain toe. Each made with the finest Mississippi center belly cut gator, and softest, most pliable I own. They cost 2,800/pr. I have about 6 other pair, all but one are Goodyear welted. In the world of High quality alligator (not croc) the classic Nettletons, FootJoys and Florsheims are still the finest circa 1955-70. Hard to find in sizes above 10, though. I have a new, old stock Foot Joy saddle in gator that I will post tomorrow.
You can buy lesser brands like Mezlan, which still look fine, for b/w 900-1500, but they have the Safari finish which is a laquered, pressed skin and will always feel relatively stiff, and won't last more than 5 yrs with regular use. I have a couple pair of those and the better Moreschi. All for frickin sale also, at size 13US. I love them, but rarely wear
