The waste is that an inherently beautiful leather is made ugly and no amount of craftsmanship can make it better.
The unspoken tragedy is that a true craftsman would have known that.
Here is one pair of mine. I honestly don't know how to tell the difference between Crocodile and Alligator.
These are vintage Johnston Murphy Aristocraft. I am guessing they are from the late 60's based on the Aristocraft label.

They are just a little too big for me. In many styles I wear a narrow width. These are 11.5D. I have only worn then once. I should sell them, but I like them so much, I have a hard time selling them.
