+1, showboating is especially frowned upon in Hockey. Unless you're so good that your regular skills are showboat worthy, like Ovechkin.

I see. Both points you guys brought up makes perfect sense. Plus if I recall correctly, didn't the NHL remove shootouts from the game a number of years ago to defeat the effectiveness of that trick?

I remember watching The Mighty Ducks years ago and the emphasis of the triple-deke shot at the end of the game. I'm under the impression that that too doesn't work in real life.

Stuff like this has been done in shootouts... maybe slightly toned-down. Ovechkin stuff, as noted.

No, shootouts are more common now than ever in the NHL. Games can't end in a tie so after a 5 minute overtime, shootouts are used to determine the winner. As far as I know, know one has tried one of these trick shots yet. Also, nothing in the Mighty Ducks movies works well in real hockey.

Whaaaa? I don't even watch much hockey outside of my own team (which is not well-known for their scoring plays), and I've seen some pretty fancy stuff.

I'm talking about in a regular season NHL game. I don't think it's been done.

yep, doesn't work in game situations. See how long it took him to bend down to get the proper angle on the stick to lift up the puck? And see how he is looking right at the puck behind him (and not at anything ahead of him)? The reality is any guy on defense with an ounce of common sense would put on the breaks and plow this guy into oblivion.

Sure there's been some fancy stuff in shootouts, like the spin-o-rama Pierre-Marc Bouchard has used for the Minnesota Wild. The trick is, the puck must continue in a forward motion, so tricks are somewhat limited.
