Their spicy chicken strips are the bomb. The jambalaya is awesome too.

And none of that "Hello! My name is Andre, I'll be waiting on you today; would you guys like to hear the specials?" bullshit.

DP, I grew up in Tornado Alley also. I spent many summer evenings in the neighbors' storm cellars! But I sure do miss Rush Springs watermelons, J&W Grill and GOOD fried okra.

SteveB, serious question. If you hate Texas so much, why don't you leave? This would be a great time to do it, while you're "in transition" with your job. I just can't imagine spending my life somewhere I was so miserable. I'm just looking out for you, Steve. I want YOU to be happy.

Pretty much everything you guys have in these so-called "states" we have in NY. Quite frankly, everything in the world we have here in some incarnation. So I miss nothing, everything is close, I can go to the beach or musuem or winery or mountain hiking or skiing, we have trucks/stands selling every possible food imaginable, beautiful women of every color and race, stores that carry the best of everything, the best sales etc. etc.

So in closing, I live in the best place in the world and everywhere else pales in comparison. Good day.

No insult to NY at all, but sometimes its not what your city has, but what it doesn't have, that makes it great.

For me, the unbearable, almost suicide-inducing disappointment that I, and most everyone else cursed to live in the dregs of the "flyover country" that comprises the other 49.5 states that make up this thing called the U.S., which we all know only exists as lip service to the awe-inspiring grandeur of New York City, experience, is slightly ameloriated by the fact that it's great not having to put up with the stereotypical myopic, "the world revolves around me" New York attitude. Oh, and New York's Mexican, Cajun, and Southern food selections suck, too.

I love--LOVE--NYC. But if you think New York has real beaches, I'm afraid you're beyond help. Plus, if you were in Cali, you'd have access to everything listed above within a couple hours driving time, except the weather and the people would be much more pleasant. EDIT: Where all the Southerners at? Seriously, let's get some people repping the South in here.

A quote from one of my favorite songs by Atmosphere:
Quote:
So if the people laugh and giggle when you tell em where you live Say shhh, say shhh And if you know this is where you wanna raise your kids Say shhh, say shhh If you're from the Midwest and it doesn't matter where Say shhh, say shhh If you can drink tap water and breathe the air Say shhh, say shhh Got trees and vegetation in the city I stay The rent's in the mail and I can always find a parking space The women outnumber the men two to one Got parks and zoos and things to do with my son The nightlife ain't all that, but that's okay I don't need to be distracted by the devil every day And the jobs ain't really too hard to find In fact, you could have mine if you knew how to rhyme This is for everyone around the planet That wishes they were from somewhere other than where they standin' Don't take it for granted, instead take a look around Quit complaining and build something on that ground Plant something on that ground, dance and sleep on that ground Get on your hands and knees and watch the ants walk around that ground Make a family, make magic, make a mess Take the stress, feel your motivation and build your nest It sucks that you think where I'm from is wack But as long as that's enough to keep your ass from coming back And with a smile and a hint of sarcasm, he said “I beg your pardon but this is my secret garden” If the playground is clear of stems and syringes Say shhh, say shhh If there's only one store in your town that sells 12-inches Say shhh, say shhh If no one in your crew walks around with a gun Say shhh, say shhh And if you ain't gonna leave cause this is where you're from Say shhh, say shhh

I can't believe you guys live without nice, fresh, very drinkable tap water. That's Scandinavia.

The friendliest people I have ever met are rural Southerners.
