My vote goes to Tiger, but my favorite player to watch as a kid was Johnny Miller especially when he won the Tucson Open three years in a row during his hot streak in the mid-70's.

Regarding listening to golf, 7 or 8 years ago there used to be a sports radio station in Phoenix that carried PGA Tournaments on the air. It's really not a sport that translates to radio because each course is too different. When you listen to any other sport on the radio they can just describe the action. With golf they have to explain the hole, the lie, the conditions, etc. and it just doesn't work. Live golf is great if you want to sit and enjoy one hole or follow a specific player but it's really best on TV if you want a sense of the entire tournament. The worst thing about being on a course is when a roar goes up from another hole and you know you missed something good.

Golf is probably the greatest thing you can watch on HD. I disagree about the roar at live tournaments, though. That's my favorite thing at the Masters.* I'll be sitting at 15 and hear that roar slowly grow from Amen Corner. You know the pairings, so the crowd starts quietly buzzing and speculating about what just happened. Everybody just stares at the scoreboard, waiting for them to slowly replace the score of each leader by hand. It's such great suspense, particularly when we're so used to having instant gratification when we sit at home with the TV. It's such a unique and old school experience. *Technically, scoping out hot, young southern chicks is my favorite part, but that's not really golf-related.
