Not a question. Discuss.

A case can certainly be made. Undoubtably a classy and exceptional leader on and off the field.

Offensively, he's up there. Defensively, he's ranged from bad to atrocious. On aggregate, top 10.

There are different categories that could be debated/argued..But, I'll comfortably say this: For my generation, I'm 29 years old, he is undoubedtly the best overall SS. His baseball IQ is just ridiculous, he makes the right play at the right time almost all the time. And FYI, I'm a Mets fan..

Only one greatest shortstop of all time, and it ain't Jeter.

Just don't ask him to back up his teammates in a bench clearing fight.

Again, I put him at best ever. Not sure who you would put ahead of him. Statistically over his career, he is a beast. Clutch in October when it really matters. Playing in the most pressure packed market. And he still has quite a few good years ahead of him.

Do you have footage of Ripken or Ozzie or Trammel throwing down in a bench clearing brawl ?

absurd. Only shortstops i knew who had no problems throwing down were Shawn Dunston and Buddy Harrelson..

Off the top of my head, Barry Larkin was probably better - he was slightly worse with the bat, but better with the glove. At worst, it's a wash between the two of them. Honus Wagner was probably better, too. And, of course, A-Rod was the best player to play the position. So maybe Jeter as top 10 was too harsh; I'll go with top 5.
