Restaurants in DC near Verizon Center

I'm heading to a concert at the Verizon Center in DC this Friday. Although it is right by Chinatown, my wife does not like Asian food. As suggestions for something not too formal within walking distance?

Just walk up 7th street, plenty of restaurants to choose from. On the corner of 7th and H is Matchbox. Good atmosphere, good beer and pizza as well.

Zaytinya at 9th and G and Zengo at 7th and H are two of my favorites.

Lots of non-asian choices in the area... I'd go with Zaytinya of the Andres restaurants there. Proof is right across the street, so you can enjoy some booze before the show.

Fuddrucker's is across the street.

My go-to place in that neighborhood is R.F.D., which serves typical bar fare with a very large selection of beer. If you want something classier, I recommend Jaleo, which is another Jose Andres joint.

+1
RFD probably has the best selection of beer in the area.

All within 2-3 blocks walking distance - Zaytinya, Proof, Oyamel, Rosa Mexicano, Cafe Atlantico, Oya, Poste, Bistro D'Oc....

That's probably the best neighborhood in the city for "date night" eating.

Without reading the responses, here goes:

1. Matchbox. Great food, good beer selection. Always crowded and tough to get a table. As long as the wait isn't over 30 minutes (which isn't un heard of at 3pm on a thursday) it's well worth the wait.

2. Proof. Never eaten here but have had wine. This is a relatively new place and it's not Asian. Well regarded.

3. Zaytinya. Chic Greek Tapas place that's not too formal. Try the rabbit if it's still available.

4. Clydes. Pretty good all around American food.

Less chic/busy places: Texas Q bbq right next to matchbox. RFD and Fado. All three are very casual. RFD is worth checking out for the insane beer selection. I don't care for Texas Q (served me coldish ribs once) but almost everyone else I know loves it.

Go ahead and google, look up reviews of all the places I've listed and see which are to your liking.

My vote is for Proof or Oyamel. I particularly enjoy Oyamel--awesome guacamole!
