Interestingly enough I don't think I have too many problems with Moths here in Toronto Canada.. Or am I wrong? I've never heard of people complaining about Moths getting into their clothes.

peacoat and others could i get your views on my shoulders  do they look too big or reasonable? can those be altered at all? i will be taking the coat in for alterations tomorrow so want to get it all done together. cheers.

They be just a bit wide, but I didn't notice it until you asked me about it. Ask the tailor what he thinks. If it were me, I don't think I would worry too much about it, but you are the only one you have to please. The tailor will be able to give you an expert opinion.

The shoulders definitely look big to me. Don't they say that make sure the shoulder fits more than anything else? Since the other aspects are easier to alter.

Other than using a lint roller, are there other ways to remove short hairs and lint on the coat? I have a J.Crew peacoat (100% wool) which I had bought used. The previous owner left a bunch of short white hairs, lint, and other stuff on it. I've gone over the coat several times with a lint roller, but there are still a lot of pesky pieces in the fibers.

 

Will dry cleaning the coat help remove most of these?

One page back, post #4845, I think it is, I tell exactly what to use and even give a link to the brush.

Yes, dry cleaning will help, but I think I would get as much of the hair off as possible before taking it in.

As you mentioned, wearing more than a tee-shirt underneath would be more telling regarding the feel of the fit. From the pictures, I think it is a good fit. The length of the coat looks perfect. You want the coat to cover your "seat". Also, the back of the coat lies neat and trim. So often, people judge the fit from the front--that's only natural. But the more telling view is from the rear. Too short and too tight--which causes the back material to bunch up--looks clownish.

As for size and fit, I think you have a good coat. A trip to the tailor and to the dry cleaner, and this coat should really come to life.

Saw that when I was in England last year. The maker is Headless Horseman Fashions out of Kent.

Appreciate the comment Clarinet and others. Coats has been sent to tailors today will hopefully get it back next week with a few alterations.

 

The guy pinned it and everything so hopefully will do a grand job with it. Really do not want to see the coat ruined.

 

I took it to 2 tailors before him and they both were amazed at the coat. Couldnt believe it was from 1966.

 

Will definitely let you know what its like when its back.

Why did you take it to two other tailors? What did they say about the shoulders?

Any suggestions on shipping a peacoat?

Is there a certain size flat-rate box they will fit in or is there a cheaper shipping option?
