They look long enough to me. I might even prefer them shorter.

I might get riduculed for suggesting this, but I just bought a slim fitting pea coat from Banana Republic. They had a 40% off sale, so it knocked down the ridiculous Canadian MSRP of $300 down significantly.

I would say it similar (perhaps a tad slimmer in the waist) than the picture that Teger just posted of himself in his jacket.

My friend just took delivery of a Stirling Wear peacoat. After quickly comparing the two, I would say the wool on the Sterlingwear version is much more dense and perhaps a bit thicker when compared to the BR jacket. The authentic version was my first choice, but I just couldn't find a size that would work for my body type without having to spend lots of money on alterations.

here is my marc by marc peacoat. i love it. fit is really nice , looks weird in all by itself. and even though it is marc by marc, the fabric and details are outstanding. it is really heavy and stiff. got to break it in more i didnt have a chance to wear it too much last winter as i got it at the tail end of it. looking forward to it this winter

I'd like input on this as well, since I've always been on the R/L border in suits (torso for a long, sleeves for a R).

But I also made the mistake of getting a "Medium Tall" car coat from gap last year, which has 37" sleeves that go down to my second pinky knuckle, and looks pretty ridiculous.

From what I gather so far, it seems like the sleeves run pretty short, so I'm leaning towards XL as well. Anyway, I think on the practical side a longer torso length would help keep me warm then it looking to cropped.

If you check a few pages back, dron10 ordered a 34L and the arms were too short on his 6'1" frame.

dron10 - just to clarify, what's your normal shirt sleeve size? 35 or 36? Are sleeve lengths on S/M OTR coats long enough normally?

Also, on a somewhat related note (since I have to get it done some time for my car coat), how expensive is sleeve shortening on winter coat sleeves? Does it compare to shortening the sleeves on a suit jacket, or is it more expensive due to the thicker material?

On a medium Rugby OCBD shirt the sleeves are the perfect size. I can't wear size small, the torso is too small so I don't know if the sleeves are long enough. I'd assume not though. Like you mentioned, I ordered a 34XL so I'll post pics when I get it.

sho'nuff: That is a really nice pea coat. Is it slim fit or more roomy like a navy pea coat??

Details on fit? Are you usually a 42R or did you order TTS? How's the arm length?

I'm usually a 40R, 5'9'', 170lbs. Fits fine in the chest/shoulder with room to layer. Waist is definitely big though, so I could probably have it taken in. I might be able to size down to a 38, but I think it would make the fit around the chest a little too constricting. Arm length is exactly where I would want it. Sleeves are fairly roomy, but I think thats pretty much the case no matter what size you get.

So i was planning to buy a Schott 753 peacoat from japan, but i realized it costs alot first off for shipping, and second its very small, although it might fit me there was no guarantee. So i thought maybe i should just buy a sized down schott 740 peacoat from there website. The 753 apparently however is manufactured exclusively for Japanese retailers, and differs from the 740N in cut and weight. So which should i get guys? BTW i usually wear a small in jackets. I am 5"8 and weight 165 pounds.
