id get a navy which to me looks classic.

black peacoats are starting to look very favorable to me as well, but only if the peacoat is luxurious and more formal looking.

normally size small-- fcuk shirts in small, a benetton shirt in medium, can wear 14.5 and 15" neck shirts. hugo boss shirts with back darts, small.

go for it. this is a great black peacoat, with defined shoulders and waist suppression the authentic certainly makes this a clear step above other peacoats.

I'm trying to get the navigator for men from sterlingwear, but i have a question about sizing.

After some research on B&S threads, it seems like sterlingwear's size chart is highly flawed. The actual measurements tend to be about 4" larger than tagged size.

So, I've come upon the conclusion that since I have a true 36" chest, I should get a size 34 (which is a 32" according to their charts, but really around a 36" in actuality).

Can anyone confirm this for me, please?

As for length, I don't know whether I'd need the Regular or Long length. I'm 6'1" and 140ish lbs. Wearing a t-shirt and measuring from the inside of my arm pit to where I'd like the sleeve to break, it measures about 21.5". I'm actually placing the tape measure up AGAINST my arm pit; not loosely around that general area.

I've heard that sterlingwear comes with generally higher arm holes, so I'm sort of inclined towards the L.. but im not sure.

So should I get the 34R or 34L?

Thanks.

I'd get the long at your height, I kind of like the look of a longer peacoat instead of the short cropped ones that barely cover your pockets

I need to know the diameter of the arm hole, because I have a peacoat right now that has a really low armhole that restricts a lot of my movement. The arm length is good though, at around 17.5 inches. So I need to accommodate for Sterlingwear's higher armholes and add that to the sleeve length to get a general idea of what length I'd need.

Does anyone wear their pea coat with the collar flipped up? I'm wondering if it would look funny with the authentic or navigator version of sterlingwear. I would like to see some pics...

I'm 5'7, 125 lbs btw, so i'm assuming that i'd probably be a 34-36ish and the short length. Also, what's the deal with the sleeves in terms of length/width (someone said they're kinda baggy)

Most people get the authentic. I can't remember all the differences, but the key one is that it's got a single vent in the back. I'm 5'9 155lbs with a 37 chest, my waist is 31 but at the hips i'm 33/34 (i've got a decently large butt and large thighs) you can see the fit i posted above, which is kind of sucky... I got a 36s and its fine.

the sleeves are a little girthy... I'm considering getting some waist suppression and perhaps having the sleeves taper a bit so that they don't bunch so weird when i have my hands in my pockets.

I flip the collar up, but it has difficulty staying straight up, though it does splay nicely, especially when i have a scarf on. It's also good for keeping some of the wind off, and for admiring your silhouette as you walk along the streets at night feeling smugly content in your warm peacoat...

Having owned mine for 3 months, just a few things.

1) The anchor buttons. I can't quite decide whether I like them or not, probably will change them. However, even if I do keep them, i'll resew all the buttons with buttons to back them on the inside. As it is, they just use a small piece of cloth to back the button and over time, with stress from pulling, this could take its toll on the inside cloth. In all likelihood, not really, but I'm going to resew the buttons anyway. The button one wasn't done so well anyhow.

2) There is a little change pocket inside the right pocket that can double for holding your cell phone or an mp3 player, which is really nice.

3) The satin lining doesn't go all the way down the length of the inside of the jacket, only 2/3 down. The last third is this stretchy ribbed nylon/poly something or some other that pills, but oh well. The satin lining is suprisingly thick.

4) Already mentioned above, the sleeves are a little big on the opening for my taste.

The fit's great though, even if it's a tad boxy. I probably could've gone with a 34, but they had the 36s in store, it was after a long day of shopping, and the shoulders would be too tight and probably the waist/hips too.

I'm your same height and I HAD a Classic 36s sold it and now ordered an Authentic 36R. I will report how it fits... the sleeves were too short on the Classic 36S for me. So now I'm getting the regular to see how it fits. I'm hoping it does.

Look at how low the sleeve goes on your hands. Danilo's fit is "too short" and amnesiac has the "right" length.

I'm short like you too, but I would go with a Regular since my arms are kind of long.
